I stole this post from like 987450928 people. And I know it’s a bit late, but I figured a year-end review is in order none the less.

1. What did you do in 2008 that you’d never done before?

Went to Ireland.

2. Did you keep your New Year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

I don’t recall making any hard and fast resolutions last year, so I guess I can say I’m a success!

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

All sorts of TIA GFYers have been populating the world with their beyond-gorgeous minions. Squee!

4. Did anyone close to you die?

Negative. Which is a positive.

5. What countries did you visit?

Just Ireland. Now we’re thinking of going to New Zealand. Who knows if we’ll make it, but it’s a good goal to have! (And the fact that the exchange rate is nearly $2 US for every $1 NZ helps!)

6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?

A juris doctorate?  But I won’t have that in 2009, either. I’d really like a clerkship with a firm that practices family law, but that would just be icing considering the crappy economy. I’m just thankful to have the job I already do.

7. What dates from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

November 4, 2008. Greatest.day.ever! And March 17th, considering we spent it in Dublin.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Not dropping out of law school? Getting a job? Not going crazy. Nothing too big, really.

9. What was your biggest failure?

I didn’t take advantage of the gyms on campus (yes, plural), which is sad considering how much I bitch about my weight, how good exercise is for stress, and how much I pay to attend this school and have access to all of its facilities. I need to take better advantage of the opportunities when they’re in front of me.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

Still not in a mental institution, so I’d say I’m doing good.

11. What was the best thing you bought?

I really do like our iPhones. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE our new camera. Even though it’s big and clunky, I’d never trade it for a point-and-shoot.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

Too bad that pilot that landed the plane in the Hudson didn’t happen like 3 weeks ago. Then he would qualify.  And Michael Phelps–I hear he did pretty well this year in the Olympics. And of course, I’ll give a shout out to John for being such a stand-up guy. :)

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

Sarah Palin. She needs to shrivel up and die.

14. Where did most of your money go?

Rent. Rent. Rent. This place is insanely expensive in my opinion. Oh, and tuition. And textbooks. And lame stuff like food. And taking Lulu to the vet. I wish I could say it all went to travel and champagne and fancy clothes and fun toys. Or even plastic surgery. But alas, I cannot.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

The election for sure. I got really, really, really excited about getting a clerkship, but that feeling didn’t last long. And the Olympics. And I got reeeeally excited about going to Ireland, of course!

16. What song will always remind you of 2008?

The Olympic theme song will make me think of Michael Phelps, I’m sure. And those damned baby Chinese gymnasts.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

a) happier or sadder? Happier, considering I’m that much closer to being done with school.

b) thinner or fatter? Fatter, fo sho.

c) richer or poorer? Probably a little richer, given the fact that I’m now employed.

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?

Travel. I don’t think I could ever travel enough. Sometimes I think I wish I could have studied more so that I could have done better in school. But I don’t even know that it would have helped. I studied my ass off, and I still did okay, so I guess I’ll let that one slide.

19. What do you wish you’d done less of?

I know what I should say for this– sleep! But I don’t care how much I sleep or if you think it’s excessive! Dammit I love sleep! In fact, add that up to #18. I wish I’d slept even MORE in 2008. TWO naps a day!

20. How did you spend Christmas?

Christmas Eve was spent with my family, Christmas Day with John’s.

21. Did you fall in love in 2008?

Just more in lurve with my hubs! Aaaw…

22. What was your favorite TV program?

I think I love 30 Rock more than The Office now. I feel guilty about that for some reason, but well, there it is.

23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?

Yes. Sarah Palin. Fo sho.

24. What was the best book you read?

Hmmm… I think I read A Tree Grows in Brooklyn in 2008 (way back in January). It was great.

25. What was your greatest musical discovery?

I’ve started using Pandora, which I love. I am so out of the music loop, though. Hello?? I don’t even know who T.I. is!

26. What did you want and get?

A new rug cleaner? Sexy, I know. But I’m old.

27. What did you want and not get?

A clerkship with a hoity-toity, high-paying, big-name law firm. (However, I think now I realize in hindsight that I’m 110% OK with that.)

28. What was your favorite film of this year?

Wall-E!  God, I love that little robot. I just want to hug him and smoosh him!

29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

Hung out at a smokey dive bar in my hometown with all my old friends. I was in bed by midnight, too. It was great! I turned 27.

30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

If no-calorie ice cream existed?

31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?

Jeans and t-shirt during the week, followed by sweatpants and t-shirt on the weekend. 2008 saw the deterioration of whatever fashion sense I did have, but who am I trying to impress?  Although, I did buy my first real honest-to-goodness expen$ive business suit. Or wait. Was that 2007?

32. What kept you sane?

Pills. Lots and lots of pills!  I kid, I kid (sort of). John is my rock of sanity.

33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

Ricky Gervais?

34. What political issue stirred you the most?

Sarah Palin (yeah, I’d call her an “issue”) and Prop. 8. Both make me vomit.

35. Who do you miss?

Rob Riggle. He left the Daily Show. WTF, Rob??

36. Who was the best new person you met?

I’ve become better friends with a few girls in law school, which is really nice. I’ve met some of John’s coworkers, and it’s nice to know who he gets to hang out with all day. Oh, and I met my parents’ new pup Myles. He is the sweetest, although I’m still not sure I’ve forgiven him for dragging me down their driveway in zero degree weather while I wore 7-Up boxer shorts and rubber clogs.

37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008.

Champagne will always give you a headache the next day.

38. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.

I honestly can’t think of anything. “Do the Helen Keller and talk with your hips??”
